This is a listing of frequently asked questions about the Manhattan Isles BBS. Please check this list before contacting us with problems.
Q: I get a "call to invalid Dynalink" error?
A: If you get a "call to invalid Dynalink" error when using the Navigator, it may mean that you have an older version of CTL3DV2.DLL on your system and Wildcat! Navigator was not able to install over it because it was in use when Navigator was installed.
Delete any copies of CTL3DV2.DLL on your computer and reinstall the Navigator.

Q: I get a "CACHE error" when Wildcat! Navigator starts up?
A: If you get a cache error (Error 262) when Wildcat! Navigator starts up, you may need to load SHARE.EXE before running Windows. Add the following line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
SHARE.EXE /L:500 /F:5100

Q: I get a "Unable to run program" error?
A: This error most commonly occurs on Windows 3.1 machines with limited RAM, and no "virtual" memory. Enabling virtual memory generally solves the problem.
To enable virtual memory in Windows 3.1:
You must restart your computer for the change to take effect.

Q: I get a Winsock 10050 Error when attempting to connect to the system?
A: There are probably multiple copies of WINSOCK.DLL in the PATH of the system. Rename all copies except the one in the WINDOWS directory and try again.

Q: How do I tell the dialer to dial a 9 to access an outside line?
A: You need to load Wildcat Connection Manager, Choose the menu item Connections, then choose Dial Properties. Check the box that you need to dial a number to access an outside line, then enter in the correct number.

Q: When upgrading online, I receive an "Error #3 upgrading xxx program."
A: This means you have an older copy of DUNZIP.DLL in your Windows system directory. Copy the DUNZIP.DLL from the directory you installed the Navigator in (usually C:\WCNAV) to your Windows system directory (usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM).

Q: What is a Error #3 when downloading a file?
A: The file doesn't exist on the system.

Q: When I choose to Telnet to a site, Wildcat immediately reports an "Invalid Address" error.
A: Check to see if WINSOCK.DLL exists in the Windows directory. If it does not, you'll need to re-install TCP/IP support under Windows.

Q: I'm getting a "Reset Timeout" error when attemping to dial-out using a modem.
A: This could be a number of things. Check to make sure you are telling Wildcat to use the correct COM port for your machine. Check to see if WINSOCK.DLL exists in your Windows directory. If it does not, you'll need to re-install TCP/IP support under Windows 95.

Q: When I load The Navigator, I'm receiving a "cache error 262". What should I do?

Q: When I logged in, the system told me my files needed to be upgraded, so I let it upgrade them. If I hang up, and call back, it keeps telling me they need to be upgraded. What should I do?
A: It's doing that because you haven't properly shutdown Wildcat after the upgrade. Wildcat will prompt you after a system file upgrade that you need to exit clear out of Wildcat (dialer and all) before the upgrade process can be completed, NOT just disconnect. Exit all the way out, and the next time you load wildcat, the upgrade process will be completed, and it will stop prompting you.

Q: The browser starts but nothing is displayed?
A: Delete the files in the CACHE directory.
